Pendarren, Outdoor Education Center for Haringey

I just spent a beautiful sunny week in Wales with 19 of the Year 6 children and Mr. Hickman. We had a great time staying at Pendarren and doing lots of activities with our leaders. In the 5 days we were there we: walked up two mountains (Sugarloaf and Table Mountain), canoed, went pony trekking, stream walking (which included a slide down a small waterfall), visited a coal mine, and walked along a canal. The children also went swimming, played football and on low ropes course. They all completed each activity and were quite proud and exhausted by Friday.

The Globe with the Bakers

More friends we couldn't have survived without are Janet and Graham. They have been great to us this year, the closest thing we have to family here in England. Ironically we know them because of our good friends from NJ who did an exchange in England many years ago. Janet and Erik worked together and their families have been friends since. We now count Janet and Graham among our friends and are thankful for all their friendship, help and kindness this year. Most recently, we went to the Globe with them and their daughter, Amy. We saw Anthony and Cleopatra and viewed it as "groundlings." This is an old reference from the early days of the theatre when the cheapest tickets were standing in front of the stage... and as they stood with their mouths gaping opened hey looked like fish- groundlings.

Fulbright Friends

These are the people who kept us sane this year. I am so thankful for Dana, Joan and Phil. They are also here on Fulbright exchanges and we have been meeting fairly regularly in London each month. This was our last night out together. They have been so supportive and understanding as well as just fun! We always seem to wind up in a pub, I don't know how that happens- but I will say thanks for the great times. I look forward to many more.
